I have been extremely happy with this netbook computer. Initially I couldn't decide whether to buy a 10" android tablet or a netbook, but after pricing and researching both, I decided on a netbook. The netbooks aren't as compact as the tablets and don't have the touch screens, but for surfing the web, playing web videos, and running regular windows programs, the netbook was definitely a better choice for me, particularly at the $250 price point. I then researched various netbooks, from Dell to Toshiba etc. Acer seemed to have a decent reputation in the netbook arena, and they had a great price on this model which has the latest dual core Atom chip. I had read some reviews that said that the netbooks can be slow, but I have not found any problem with the speed of this one. I did purchase a 2 GB RAM card, and upgraded the RAM on mine. It was a bit challenging, taking the Acer apart to replace the RAM card, but there are YouTube videos that describe how to do it. All in all, I am extremely happy with my little netbook. It has a great battery life, great WiFi reception, and I moved all of my essential files from my desktop onto it so that I have pretty much everything from my desktop running on the Acer.

This is a great little computer. I had bought one for my grandson as a back to school gift. I had it sent to me so I could check it out and do all the setups for him. I liked it so much that I bought a second one for myself from Amazon, best price I could find for one with an eight hour battery.

The Acer Aspire One AOD257-1411 is a very good machine once you install a decent operating system. Microsoft's Windows 7 Starter is a scam, you receive nothing which basic computer users require to make a computer useful. Microsoft does provide a nifty desktop icon for you to click on so you can pay to have Windows 7 Starter upgraded to Windows 7 Home or Professional versions........which now pushes the cost of your new netbook up and which also results in the waste of more money because it's still Microsoft Windows 7. You are better off to clean the hard drive and install Windows XP or select a flavor of Linux and install on this machine. You will be a lot happier with the machine. I also purchased the extra memory (2GB module) and installed. Installing a new memory module is a bit tricky, the bottom of the computer case is a plastic cover that "snaps" into place. You may break a few of the plastic tabs getting it apart. A little bit of of Loctite "Stik-n-Seal" (not super glue) will aid in getting the plastic cover back on. Acer does not have a 2GB memory option where the memory module is already installed for you.
The Acer Aspire One netbook computer is a great mini, portable computer.........Microsoft's Windows 7 Starter operating system is not.
